So you’ve decided to hire a landscaper.  Awesome!  There’s nothing like having a professional coming onto your property with an eye for detail and an understanding of how to make your property come alive.  But how to decide which professional is best for you?  There are experts in every industry, but also those who – shall we say – talk a good game but can’t deliver.  You don’t want to spend months or years working with someone who doesn’t know how to work with your lawn.  As a result, we at GreenPro have put together some crucial questions you should ask before you make your final decision.

How long have you been in business and what is the size of your firm?

Credibility matters.  If you’re getting someone who’s only been in business for a few months or even a year, they may not have the credibility and experience you’re looking for.  Landscapers who have been working for 5, 10, or 15 years, by contrast, have experience not only with lawns and landscapes but with building a clientele of happy customers as well as weathering various economic and climate changes.  (GreenPro, for example, has been in business for nearly ten years – since 2010!)

Additionally, asking how large the firm gives you a sense of their ability to properly service your property.  If you have different people showing up every time you schedule your lawn care, they will not have the same level of experience with your property that the same dedicated service people will.  At GreenPro, for example, our workers are hand-picked, well-compensated, and believe in the service side of the business.  In addition, the owners personally oversee (and often work on) all company projects – which means that our clients get not only dedicated landscapers but invested owners tending to their needs!

Is your company fully insured and bonded?

Let’s face it: accidents can happen, especially when you have lawn care specialists working with heavy equipment, trimming bushes, or climbing trees.  When those accidents do happen, however, you don’t want to be held liable for their injuries or mistakes.  As a result, it’s important to know whether the company you’re bringing on can handle and address liability issues as they come up.

GreenPro, LLC carries adequate general liability and worker’s compensation insurances. We are also OSHA certified.  Additionally, we pull local government permits as needed, and our workers are legal and background-checked, so you have peace of mind when we are working on our clients’ properties.

What sets your company apart from other landscapers?

Whoever you’re bringing on to your project or property should be distinctive in some unique way.  You’re not just hiring someone to mow your lawn and trim your trees; ideally, you’re bringing in someone who offers that special unique touch that can make your property shine.

For example, at GreenPro, we believe it’s not only our professionalism and deep knowledge base that sets us apart, but also our care and concern for the community, which is why we donate services and supplies to community projects and try to deliver warm fuzzies and happy jaw drops on each project.  We’re committed not just to doing good work for our clients, but in the community as well.

What types of services do you offer?

So much of landscape design is interconnected – what happens in one aspect of the property affects so many others.  As a result, it’s important to get a sense of the breadth of services your landscaper can provide – ideally, they have a larger sense of how landscape design can affect lighting design, for example, or the types of grasses and vegetation you have growing, or how hardscapes will interact with your floral design concepts.  At GreenPro we specialize in taking a 360 view of your property as we try to help you come up with the best design possible!

These are just a few of the important questions we believe you should be asking of your landscape designer.  If you’re interested in working with us, we’d love to continue the conversation – call us today!
